“It is now possible to authenticate an entire product with certainty.”
That is how Revue FH, the publication of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, introduces the possibilities opened by DNA-based authentication in its September 2026 edition. Coming from a specialised publication at the heart of the Swiss watch industry, the statement captures the significance of a technology designed to address one of the sector’s persistent challenges: establishing the authenticity of a physical product itself.
In the feature “A DNA signature serving to authenticate timepieces,” Revue FH examines how Haelixa’s ProofDNA™ technology can give watches and their components a unique, invisible identity that remains physically connected to the product.
The publication places this capability in the context of increasingly sophisticated counterfeits, which can make it difficult for customers to distinguish imitations from genuine pieces. Rather than relying solely on documentation, serial numbers or visible identifiers, ProofDNA™ introduces authentication at the material level.

The DNA marker can be integrated into different components of a timepiece – including the case, bezel, movement or bracelet – and later verified through a swab sample. As Revue FH highlights, this makes it possible to authenticate not simply accompanying documentation, but the physical product and its individual components.
The feature also points to the technology moving into real-world application, mentioning its use by a Swiss jewellery brand and ongoing pilot projects with major brands. It addresses the commercial dimension too: according to Klemens Link, the investment represents only a few thousandths of the cost of a watch.
For an industry built around provenance, craftsmanship and authenticity, Revue FH’s feature brings an important idea to the forefront: authentication can now be tied directly to the physical object – providing certainty where visual inspection alone may no longer be enough.
