Haelixa and Trudel Partner to Bring Full Transparency in Silk Production
Haelixa has partnered with Trudel Silk, the worldwide market leader for sustainable organic and recycled silk products. This collaboration brings traceability and transparency to silk production, providing consumers with peace of mind and assurance of the ethical practices used in making their products.
About Trudel
Trudel is a leading producer and supplier of premium-quality silk products certified by GOTS, GRS, and WFTO. The Swiss-Italian company has been in business for over a century, blending tradition with innovation to deliver the finest products. Trudel has established long-standing partnerships in Asia and Europe, ensuring full traceability and exceptional quality from the Mulberry tree to the finished product. By collaborating with international fashion and luxury brands, Trudel offers consumers complete transparency throughout the entire value chain.
The Challenge
Silk is renowned as one of the finest and smoothest fabrics available. The quality of silk directly influences its luxurious feel. The highest quality silk is produced when silkworms are fed premium mulberry leaves, necessitating rigorous cultivation standards. Trudel is investing significant energy and effort to achieve a high level of quality. However, without physical proof linked to the silk fiber, numerous risks could arise.
- Legal or compliance issues: Upcoming regulations, such as the EU Green Deals, require higher transparency in supply chains and the provenance of claims. Failure to meet these requirements can lead to legal trouble, an inability to deal with specific markets and sanctions.
- Reputation damage: If quality issues arise, not having proof to back up claims can lead to greater reputational damage that is hard to recover from.
- Competitive disadvantage: Competitors who prioritise transparency may attract more customers, leaving Trudel vulnerable to being overshadowed in the market.

The Solution
The silk fibers used in Trudel’s spun silk yarns are marked with a specific DNA per farm set. Throughout the supply chain, samples of yarn, fabrics, and finished products undergo testing to verify the presence of original silk fibers. Based on the reporting, the brands can trace the finished accessories or garments back to Trudel production.
Once marked with Haelixa DNA, the fiber can undergo forensic testing using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) throughout the supply chain. This process produces a binary report detailing the fiber’s journey. The resulting data can be utilized for Digital Product Passports (DPP).
The Results
- Enhanced transparency & sustainability: The Haelixa-Trudel partnership sets a new industry standard by ensuring full traceability, empowering consumers, and reinforcing ethical supply chains.
- Regulatory & competitive advantage: Trudel asserts its leadership in aligning with evolving standards like the EU Green Deal while confidently securing a competitive edge through the verifiable authenticity of its silk.
- Brand protection & consumer trust: DNA-based traceability mitigates counterfeiting risks, safeguards brand integrity, and boosts confidence across the supply chain.
