Soorty partners with Haelixa to guarantee transparency in recycled denim

With growing demand for circular textiles, ONLY partnered with Soorty and Haelixa to use 20% verified, traceable recycled cotton in its premium denim.

The Challenge

Recycling denim saves waste and resources. But how do we prove what’s truly recycled?

One of the main difficulties with recycled denim is the lack of verification systems. Unlike virgin cotton, recycled fibers originate from various sources, including post-consumer garments and industrial waste, making it complex to monitor their exact provenance.

Additionally, their supply chains are often highly fragmented, involving multiple players in the collection, sorting, and processing stages. This complexity increases the risk of losing crucial traceability information.

Paper certifications do not directly connect to recycled fibers in the supply chain. Without this link, they are inherently vulnerable to unintentional substitution and fraud, undermining their credibility.

Eliminating Greenwashing

The failure to effectively track the composition of finished products directly leads to misrepresenting their sustainability credentials, significantly contributing to the problem of greenwashing. Addressing this issue is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in product claims.

“Our partnership with ONLY and Haelixa marks a significant milestone in our journey towards circular production. Authenticating and tracing their journey allows us to share this responsibility from fibers to retail, helping customers make informed decisions.”

The Solution

Haelixa provides a DNA solution that Soorty uses to mark post-consumer waste, enabling the verification of recycled cotton at every step of the recycling and production process. The marking still before shredding ensures that the correct feedstock enters the supply chain, preventing substitution.

After mechanical recycling, the marked waste is turned into fibers and made into garments. Samples of these garments are tested at Haelixa’s labs for DNA presence. Once validated, Soorty can confidently claim that their garments are made from recycled waste.

The Results

Our advanced physical traceability technology ensures that Soorty’s recycled materials come entirely from post-consumer waste. Haelixa preserves fiber identity at every supply chain stage, verifying the authenticity and integrity of the recycled content. Customers can trust that their sustainability claims are accurate and verifiable.

Backed by Haelixa’s 100% reliable PCR-based DNA tracking, Soorty can authenticate fiber identity even after it moves through spinning, dyeing, and garment manufacturing — going far beyond conventional paper-based certifications. This level of traceability enhances Soorty’s credibility and sets a benchmark for sustainable production practices within the denim industry. As consumer demand for transparency increases, collaborations like this lead to a more accountable and environmentally responsible fashion sector.
