Soorty
With an increase in demand for circularity in textiles, many brands are focusing on the transparency and traceability of recycled fibers. Haelixa’s solution is used to mark and trace recycled denim from the material input (e.g. post-consumer waste) until the finished garment, to provide forensic proof of recycling.
Soorty Denim from Pakistan is one of Pakistan’s largest vertical denim manufacturers, with recycling capability and big focus on innovationa and sustainability. Haelixa and Soorty began their partnership in 2019, over a need to have a reliable means of tracing the denim that Soorty is recycling.
Project Scope
Haelixa provides a liquid solution containing a specific DNA for Soorty to spray on post-consumer waste. This waste material is then mechanically recycled and converted into fibers which are further processed into a finished garment. Once the garment is ready, samples are sent to the Haelixa labs to test for the presence of the DNA. Upon successful validation of the samples, Soorty can responsibly claim that their garment is made from recycled waste.
